The Big 33 Football Classic Announces 2013 Honorary Chairman Antonio Freeman

HARRISBURG, PA– The Big 33 Scholarship Foundation Inc is proud to announce Antonio Freeman as the 2013 Honorary Chairman of the 56th Big 33 Football Classic. Freeman is a Big 33 Alumnus who played for Maryland in 1990.

Freeman was drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in 1995. The Packers and Freeman went on to win Super Bowl XXXL over the New England Patriots. Freeman had 3 receptions for 105 yards. During his NFL career with the Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, Freeman amassed over 7,000 receiving yards, caught over 400 passes and scored more than 60 touchdowns.

Freeman played wide receiver for Virginia Tech where he caught 121 passes for 2,207 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.  He attended high school at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.

In 1990, Freeman played in the 33rd Big 33 Football Classic for Maryland. What he remembers most was not about the game, but the experience. “It was such a memorable week. I stayed with a host family for game week and we still keep in touch, getting to know the Buddies and spending time with them not to mention the actual football game. The game showed me there are so many talented football players and I will be playing with and against them next year at Virginia Tech. It is incredible how close you and your teammates become in just one week. It is an overall experience I will never forget,” Freeman said.

“I am honored to be the 2013 Big 33 Honorary Chairman. Big 33 is such an amazing event. There is no other all-star football game like it in the country. I have great memories as a Big 33 player and looking forward to being a part of Big 33 again,” Freeman explained.

The 2013 56th Big 33 Football Classic will be played on June 15th at Hershey Park Stadium and televised Live on the NFL Network. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m.
