John Weaver

A cornerstone of the Big 33 for over 40 years, John Weaver has dedicated his life to the game of football and to mentoring generations of players. John is a graduate of Norwin Senior High School, where he excelled in football, wrestling, the Letterman’s Club, and Hi-Y. He continued his athletic career playing football at Shippensburg University, where he earned his degree in Education. Over the years, John has served as a teacher and coach, including assistant coaching positions at Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Red Land, as well as head coaching roles at East Pennsboro and Red Land.

John and his wife of 52 years, Sharon, are the proud parents of Nicole Whitmire (married to Shawn; children Tyler, McKinlee, Isaiah) and Chad Weaver (married to Alyson; children Gwen, Finn, Elyse). Originally from Western Pennsylvania, John cherishes the relationships and friendships he has built throughout his years with the Big 33. His passions outside of work include skiing, which he taught for 39 years.

What excites John most about his role is finding a home for the Big 33 in Cumberland County and continuing to grow every aspect of the organization.
