The 69th Big 33 Football Classic, presented by Renewal by Andersen of Central PA, once again proved why the event remains one of the most cherished traditions in high school athletics.
Held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Cumberland Valley High School, the game delivered excitement on the field, emotional tributes, and powerful moments of community connection throughout Big 33 Weekend.
Known as the home of the Big 33, Cumberland County welcomed athletes, families, volunteers, military members, alumni, host families and fans from across the region for a celebration that extended far beyond football.
This year’s event also featured the return of former Big 33 player and ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick, who served as the game’s Honorary Chairman. Riddick’s return highlighted the lasting impact and tradition of the Big 33, as he spent time encouraging athletes and reflecting on the role the game played in his own football journey.
The game itself was a thriller. In the first quarter, Pennsylvania’s Jack Kenneff threw a 13 yard touchdown pass to Blake Turner to carry a 7-0 lead deep into the fourth quarter before Maryland’s Michael Robinson hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Blake Pasik with just 2:12 remaining in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. In the extra periods, Hempfield standout Brady Bisco energized the crowd with a booming 51-yard field goal, but Maryland ultimately prevailed in double overtime, defeating Pennsylvania 18-10. The win marked Maryland’s second consecutive victory in the storied series following its 42-21 win in 2025.
While the action on the field captivated fans, the true impact of the Big 33 was felt throughout the entire week. More than 100 participants took part in the nationally recognized Big 33 Buddy Program, which promotes inclusion, friendship, and acceptance by pairing individuals with special needs alongside Big 33 players and cheerleaders. The event also featured 52 incredibly talented Big 33 Cheerleaders, whose athleticism, leadership, and dedication were on full display throughout the week and during game day festivities.
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came during the special military recognition and dedication of the game to Captain David B. Rodman. A 1958 Big 33 alumnus, Capt. Rodman served his country in Vietnam and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. His legacy of leadership, courage, and selflessness served as a powerful reminder that the values represented by the Big 33 extend far beyond athletics.
From competitive football and spirited performances to military tributes and the life-changing connections formed through the Buddy Program, the 69th Big 33 Football Classic showcased the very best of community, tradition, and service. The weekend once again demonstrated that the Big 33 is more than just a football gameāit is an experience that brings people together and positively impacts lives across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and beyond.
