1969 Recap

John Hufnagel of Montour and Larry McCargo of Connellsville provided a pass-run punch as the West knocked out the East, 28-13, before 20,000 at Hershey.

Hufnagel completed a seven-yard pass to John Karazia for the West’s only score of the first half. The East tied it on a five-yard strike from Ross Moore to Ed Beverly of John Harris. Beverly had an outstanding night with nine catches for 81 yards.

The East had a brief 13-7 lead on a one-yard QB sneak by Moore to cap a 62-yard drive. The West took the kickoff and moved 63 yards on six plays, with Hufnagel passing 31 yards to Jim Roolf for the TD. Jackson Nunn’s kick made it 14-13.

Nunn ran seven yards for the third score. McCargo plunged two yards for the final TD and finished with 146 yards on 25 carries.

Moore completed 19-of-30 passes for 158 yards, but pressure by John Skorupan and the West defensive line resulted in losses totaling 75 yards.
