Todd Norley completed 12 of 22 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns to lead the East to a 22-21 victory over the West at Johnstown.
Early in the fourth quarter, the QB from Central Bucks West, tossed a 43-yard TD strike to Craig Scheffler of Northern Lehigh to pull the East to within one, 21-20. The East went for two and got it when Norley passed to Ryan Priest of Mechanicsburg.
The West had a chance to win it, but Chris Jelic was wide right on a 43-yard field goal with just seven seconds to play. Serra Catholic teammates Rich Bowen and Roy Jenkins gave the West a 7-0 lead on a 10-yard pass. The East tied it late in the first period on a 20-yard pass from Norley to Berwick’s Doug Hinderliter. After Jelic ran a yard to make it 14-7, Hinderliter grabbed a 12-yard pass from Berwick teammate Mike West for a 14-14 tie at the half.
The West took the second half kickoff and went 85 yards on 13 plays, with Bill Callahan running the final seven. The East finished with 298 yards passing and 80 rushing. Jon Green of Mon Valley Catholic rushed for 70 of the West’s 156 yards.
