63rd Big 33 Football Classic Cancelled Due To COVID-19

The 2020 edition of the Big 33 game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t be celebrated.

1969 Alumni Jimmy Jones and PSFCA Executive Director Garry Cathell held a live video presentation to honor those selected to play in the 2020 game. Honorary Chairman Coy Wire brought a message of change and adapt. Four Chapman and Doug Duvall joined the broadcast to discuss the history of the game and broke down the selections for both team Maryland and team PA. PA players Noah Palm and Tyrell Mims and for Team Maryland Jacob Mcllvaine and Tim Ferguson came on the show to talk about being selected to the game.

Palm and Mcllvaine were also honored as the winners of the Marine Corps Fan Favorite contest. Peter Lazerus presented both with a check for $1,000. The video presentation also featured representatives of the host families, cheerleaders and the all-important buddy program. Finally, because they couldn’t play in the game, the members of the 2020 Big 33 game will be honored during the 2021 game.

Special thanks, as always, to the Dauphin County Commissioners who have been very supportive of the Big 33 experience.
