Team Pennsylvania turned the lights out on the 67th Big 33 Classic in one half of football. And Penn State-bound athlete Tyseer Denmark had his hand on the switch.

The Imhotep Charter wideout hauled in three touchdown passes as Pa. scored on five straight possessions to rout Maryland 31-7 in the annual All-Star event.

At Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field, Pa. stalled on its opening drive and spent the rest of the opening 24 minutes tearing Maryland’s morale apart.

Quarterback Hayden Johnson of Manheim Township pitched two scores to Denmark, who also shocked the visitors with his 52-yard catch, juke and walk into the end zone off a throw from Steel-High’s Alex Erby late in the opening quarter.

Williamsport’s Connor Poole chipped a 27-yard field early in the second quarter before Pa. lit even more fireworks.

Denmark, Pa.’s Most Valuable Player, was the unstoppable force, catching four passes for 95 yards and those three scores. His 21-yard catch opened the scoring midway through the first quarter. Later, Johnson again found Denmark for a 24-yard TD hookup just minutes before halftime.

Johnson was 7-of-11 for 142 yards and a late interception while Erby chipped in 92 passing yards and nearly had a second TD toss.

Erby located Roman Catholic’s Jah Jah Boyd for a 42-yard strike, but Boyd was ruled down just before the goal line.

St. Joseph’s Prep RB Erik Sanchez would carry it in on the next play from scrimmage. Manheim Central WR Aaron Enterline, another Penn State recruit, added a pair of receptions for 68 yards.

Steel-High’s Andrew Erby Jr. picked up a sack and Bishop McDevitt safety Nevan Hopkins stopped Maryland’s final possession with Pa.’s second interception. Bishop Canevin’s Jason Cross also had a pick.

Old Mill RB Max Jones, who posted the visitor’s lone touchdown with 5:57 remaining in the third, was tagged Maryland’s MVP.

The victory was No. 5 in a row for Pennsylvania, which now leads the series 9-2 since Maryland rejoined the Big 33 in 2013.
