Garry Gilliam’s career in football is one of persistence and appreciation.
Rarely used a pass-catching tight end during his time at Milton Hershey, Gilliam still earned Mid-Penn, All-State and All-American honors while doubling along the defensive line.
He would end his prep career as a member of the 2009 Big 33 squad, which fell to Ohio 38-31.
A full-time starter at DT in 2013, Gilliam would eventually sign with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014 as an undrafted free agent.
Over parts of five NFL seasons with the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, Gilliam would play in 68 games, drawing 31 starts.
Gilliam, a four-sport star at Milton Hershey, is now inspiring the next class of Big 33 players as the 2025 honorary chairman.
He met with Pa. and Maryland all-stars Saturday, promoting a path filled with persistence and appreciation.
“To be chosen for something like this is a great honor,” Gilliam said.
