1962 Recap

The West overwhelmed the East by a 39-0 count before 14,000 at Hershey.

Powerful Pete Duranko rushed for 68 yards and scored twice to lead a West club that dominated from start to finish. Duranko plunged a yard for the initial score after Rich Martha ran 17 yards to the one.

Tim Timko plunged from the one to open the second quarter scoring. Martha got the third score on another one-yard play. The big play of the half was a 54-yard pass from Chief Logan’s Dick Gingrich to Eric Crabtree. That made it 26-0 at the half.

Bill Malinchak took a 12-yard scoring pass from Jack White. The Wilkinsburg quarterback completed five of eight passes for 88 yards. Duranko, the Diesel from Johnstown, went 17 yards for the final score.
