1963 Recap

Hempfield quarterback Dick Vidmer ran for the first two touchdowns to lead the Blue to a 36-6 victory over the Gray.

Nineteen players were added to the original Big 33 squad and the 52 players were then divided into two teams.

The Gray fumbled the fumbled the ball away six times. Vidmer ran 25 yards on a broken play for the first TD, then went nine yards to give the Blue a 14-0 lead. Gary Ross of Harrisburg William Penn went 16 yards in the second quarter to make it 14-16 at the half. Ross was the Gray’s top rustier with 53 yards.

A bad snap on a punt put the Blue in scoring position early in the second half. Frank Antonini of Ambridge ran 24 yards two plays after the miscue. Another Gray fumble produced a 1-yard TD by Dan Spanish of New Castle.
