MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHP) — Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association, or PSFCA, hosted its third annual Big 33 Buddy Program mini golf outing on Sunday.

The event, sponsored by UPMC, took place at Liberty Forge in Mechanicsburg.

Both new and old buddies met with football players from Boiling Springs High School for a fun round of mini golf.

The Buddy Program features kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving them the chance to connect with a local Big 33 athlete in football, cheerleading and more.

“It gives them an opportunity to hang out and meet with someone you may not have ever met before in any other circumstance. But they become really great friends, and it also helps our players realize how fortunate they are in life. So, you never want to take anything for granted, especially after hanging out with these guys,” said Nicole Whitmire, the associate executive director of Big 33.

The 2024 edition of the Big 33 Football Classic will be happening over Memorial Day weekend but at a new venue.

Instead of being at their usual spot at Bishop McDevitt High School, it will be held at Cumberland Valley High School.
